Andrew Blackowiak

They/Them & He/Him

UGA MSW Intern

Supervised by Saron Bryan and Kelly Simonson

Andrew is not taking new clients at this time

As an intern in my second year of University of Georgia’s Master of Social Work program, I maintain a philosophy of lifelong learning. To that end, I view my position at Getting Real Counseling Center as a huge privilege. I consider my clients to be experts in their own life experience, and so I lead counseling sessions from a learner’s perspective. To me, this perspective means prioritizing curiosity and authenticity. I aim to be a fellow explorer, an accountability partner, and a motivator in accordance with your goals and values.I draw wisdom and practice from psychodynamic, existential, and positive psychology. My passion areas include fostering mindfulness, navigating interpersonal relationships, partnering with survivors of religious trauma, exploring gender identity, and utilizing harm reduction. In our sessions, you will find that no topic is taboo or off the table. You will also find that I thrive on finding the joy and humor in everyday life as well as embracing the pain and struggle that accompanies it. Finally, you’ll find that if I don’t know something, I will readily find out for you.

Andrew is an MSW Intern so can offer sessions as low as $30 a session. Andrew can also take Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna insurance.
